- open up a new document, any size will do but for this example i am using 600 x 600px.
- create a new layer in the layers palette and name this new layer “rays”.
- we are now going to fill this new layer with the color #E7F238.
- you can choose any color you want to though. fill this layer by pressing “alt delete” on your keyboard. you should now have a big yellow square. on to making those light rays. can you believe we are 50% done already?
- go to filters > sketch > halftone pattern and apply these settings:
size: 12
contrast: 50
pattern type: line - you should now have something that looks like this:
- cool, right? lets move on and rotate the image by going to image > rotate canvas > 90CW.
- your image should now look like this:
- now its time to make it look more like sun rays so go to filter > distort > polar coordinates and then apply these settings:
- your image should now look like this:
- we need to tweak it and stretch it some for it to look right so go ahead and press “ctrl t” on your keyboard. this brings up the transform box.
- go ahead and move the transfrom box so that the image will now look similar to this, keep in mind you want the sun rays to line up with eachother, thats why i made a black line.
- well, you are done. imagine that. if you wanted, you could crop the image so that its straight and looks nice like this:
- so you can stop here, or add details and brushes and graphics so that your sun rays arent so lonely.
